Daryl Braun (dgb68gt to those of us on the forum) has the pleasure of owning this beautiful 1968 Mustang Fastback GT "S" Code. It is a Canadian non-emissions car. Under the hood sits a .030" over 390 with Speed Pro flat top pistons with an Edelbrock Performer RPM intake manifold fed by an Edelbrock 800 AVS carb & Holley mechanical fuel pump.  The intake is perched between a set of DSC Motorsports, Edelbrock heads with Erson roller rockers set in motion by an Oregon cam w/ 230/236 duration & .575"/.579" lift on a 110 degree LSA and driven by a Melling double roller timing chain. The exhausting task is done through FPA headers  and 2 1/2" mandrel bent Pypes system. Fire is provided by a stock dizzy w/ Petronix. The slippery stuff is held in a Canton pan and pickup and gets to the vital parts via a Melling HV pump. Power is forced to the 3.89 Traction lock rear and 31 spline axles through a Tremac 3550 tranny w/Centerforce clutch & flywheel in a Lakewood bell housing. It all goes to the ground with Frame connectors and Shelby style traction bars. Best 1/4 mile times to date are 13.01 seconds @ 105 MPH with iron heads; 4.56 rear; mild cam (224/.513) and open exhaust. The new setup has not yet been timed.

The business end has a 390 bored .040" over and stroked with a Scat 4.25" crank shaft to 447 cubic inches. A Clay Smith fuel pump feeds the go juice to a Holley 850DP & Edelbrock Performer RPM intake. They pass the fuel/air mixture on to the cast iron CJ heads that are milled .050" and sport a Keith Craft Stage 2 port and polish job with 2.15" intakes and 1.66" exhaust valves. Those valves are opened & closed with a Comp Cams .617" I / .635" E lift cam with 254 / 256 duration through Crane pushrods and shell solid lifters actuating Dove roller rockers mounted on Harden shafts. This is all driven by Engine Works Xtreem Duty Billet Gears w/ a Torrington bearing chain. Pistons are Diamond 13:1 popups w/ Diamond Pro select rings and connected to the Scat crank with Eagle steel 6.70" H beam rods using ARP bolts. It all exhales through Hooker headers and header mufflers. Fire is ignited with a Pertronix Ignitor II Dizzy and coil with MSD 6AL box and MSD Wires. A Romac ballancer helps keep things running smoothly. The slippery stuff is held in a Milodon pan with a Ford windage tray. It is supplied to the motor through a Milodon pick up and tube through a Melling HV pump. Cooling is provided by a Howe radiator with an Edelbrock water pump.

Transmission is a Broader Performance Wide Ratio Rollerized 700 HP C-6 with a custon FWD manual valve body, cast aluminum pan and Custom 10" 3500 rpm stall converter and shifted by a B&M Quicksilver shifter. Rearend is a 9" Ford "N" case w/ Richmond 4:56 gears on a Strange steel spool w/ Mark William's axles suspended by Competition Engineering ladder bars and Koni coilovers.
